ABFO stands for The Association of Bioscience Financial Officers. ABFO is a national networking group for biotechnology, med tech and bioscience (life sciences) financial officers. ABFO was started in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1988 as a place for executives in finance to exchange information and ideas, form support networks and gather for education and friendship. Over the last 30+ years, ABFO has grown to regional chapters in areas such as Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia, and Southern California. Our local chapter was previously known as ABFO Southern California, but we are now rebranding to ABFO Southwest to include Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.

Primarily CFOs, Vice Presidents, Controllers and other finance professionals in leadership positions – all at life science companies. There are approximately 150 professionals within our regional chapter and many attend events on a regular basis.

Our local chapter hosts breakfast or happy hour meetings on specific topics each month from September through May. We generally take a break from late May through August for our national conference and summer vacations.

ABFO Southwest requires local sponsorship to cover administrative support and meeting expenses. Please note, this sponsorship is separate and not a part of any national conference/sponsorship.

Sponsors may help facilitate speakers and a meeting location for one breakfast meeting per year and may be asked to participate on additional panels. In addition to speakers, sponsors may bring 2-3 additional employees to their breakfast meeting.

In addition to access to a larger number of bright, engaged life sciences finance professionals, you will also receive recognition on all local meeting invitations and on our website. Additionally, no other service providers will be in attendance at your sponsored breakfast meeting, giving you exclusive access.
